Highlights

Negombo
Negombo Beach is home Sri Lanka’s first beach resort and is the perfect place to start or end your beach holiday in Sri Lanka. Long, palm-fringed, wide, sandy beaches are inviting for long walks, relaxing with a book, or simply doing nothing. Perfectly located only 15 km from Sri Lanka’s International Airport, Negombo offers wide beaches, excellent restaurants, and many watersport facilities. You will enjoy watching the old world fishing crafts like the outrigger canoes and the catamarans bringing a variety of marine fishes, and watching the sun set on this spectacular coastal area.

Bentota
Bentota is famous for having Sri lanka’s finest beach. The broad, sandy beach here has calm, warm waters on two fronts- the sea where the swimming is safe and deep sea fishing and diving can be arranged, and the River where the adventurous can enjoy water skiing, wind surfing or take a cooling boat ride up stream and through the mangroves. The beaches here are also home to Giant Sea Turtles, which are magnificent creatures to spot.

Galle Coast
Galle is a thriving fortified old town surrounded by beautiful beaches, luxurious villas and classy boutique hotels. The recent revival of Galle, has quietly influenced its coastline, which has become a favoured retreat for those looking for a stunning quieter beach over busier areas. Galle is also the gateway to seductive sandy coves and the coastal villages of Unawatuna, Thalpe, Koggala, Habaraduwa and Ahangama.

Batticaloa
The lesser known East coast may surprise you. Enjoy whale watching, water sports, fishing and much more while exploring breathtaking hidden beaches off the beaten track. Less developed than the west coast, here you will find peace, quiet and untouched powder white sand. Batticaloa is surrounded by lagoons – Batticaloa Lagoon, Valaichchenai Lagoon, and Vakari – the biggest of which, has an area of more than 100 square kilometres. Surrounded by beautiful coves and the crystal clear waters of the lagoons, the area is renowned for its tranquillity.

Tangalle
In the deep south of Sri Lanka you find Tangalle, dotted with sandy little bays, this region produces a perfume based on citronella, and its rest house was once a hangout of Dutch colonial officials. It is famed for its tranquility, deserted beaches and the unique ECO system. The most popular spots for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling are situated in the nearby tiny villages by the sea such as Medilla, Goyambokke, Pallikaduwe, Mawella, Kudawella and Seenimodera. Tangalle the land of white sand and basking sun is a place not be missed when you visit the coastal South of Sri Lanka.
