Leh – 3 days
Fly from Delhi to a very chilly Leh where you will spend a gentle first two days exploring the local monasteries and stupas. Visit the monasteries at Shey and Thiksey, and explore the palace at Stok, staying at the extremely comfortable Golden Dragon. Drive along some of the most dramatic roads in the world and visit one of Ladakh’s famous winter festivals. You can extend your stay in Delhi and explore the bustling markets of Old Delhi – contact us on 020 7622 5120 for more information.
Husing – 2 nights
Spend two days learning to track snow leopards with local experts. Learn about pugmarks, scrapings and rock sand, and find out how the local communities have learnt to identify the habits and movements of the snow leopard and camp out in one of their last real strongholds. Watch out for golden eagles and ibex.
Rumbak – 2 nights
Your camp will be moved by your support team while you move into more traditional homestay accommodation. Still deep in snow leopard territory you’ll learn how the families you’re staying with have become actively involved with conservation efforts in the ‘Snow Leopard Capital’. Visit ‘machans’ – vantage points used to try and spot snow leopards and their prey.
Return to Leh and on to Delhi
Return to Leh and enjoy a cosy night with a big meal and a well-earned glass of single malt! After a full day to relax and pick up a souvenir or two, you will fly back to Delhi. We include this spare day in this itinerary in case of bad weather.
